Martin Verhoef, President & CEO

Mr. Martin Verhoef joined PrimeraDx with over 20 years of experience in the Life Sciences industry working for both Fortune 500 companies and Start ups. Mr. Verhoef has held various senior management positions at Hewlett-Packard/Agilent in Germany and US and was with Ciphergen Biosystems, first as Vice President of Sales and Marketing and later President of the Ciphergen Biosystems Division. Mr. Verhoef began his career at the Dijkzigt Academic Hospital and Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands followed by Pharmacia Biotechnologies in Uppsala, Sweden. He received a BS in Medical Chemistry and a BS in Chemistry from the van ‘t Hoff Institute in Rotterdam, The Netherlands

Lilly Kong, D.V.M., Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Lilly Kong joined PrimeraDx in early 2009.  Prior to joining PrimeraDx, Dr. Kong served as the Vice President of Research and Development for Focus Diagnostics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics, where she was responsible for planning, initiating, directing and executing the scientific research and development effort with emphasis on both molecular and immunological diagnostic products and laboratory services. Dr. Kong is a veterinarian, virologist and molecular biologist by training, and has worked in the field of infectious disease diagnostics for the last 25 years.  She recieved a D.V.M. from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, an M.S. in Veterinary Microbiology from Auburn University, and had her postdoctoral fellowship training in Hematology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

Ted Myles, Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Ted Myles joined Primera, in November 2008, with more than 15 years of experience in financial and accounting roles in the Life Sciences industry. Mr. Myles most recently served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Pressure BioSciences, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed Life Sciences Tools company. Mr. Myles also served as the US controller for Merck KGaA, where he had a wide variety of responsibilities in the areas of accounting and business development. Prior to Merck KGaA, Ted worked in the health care investment banking group of SG Cowen Securities Corporation. Mr. Myles began his professional career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he held positions of increasing responsibility between 1993 and 1997. Mr. Myles became a CPA in 1996, and earned a BSBA, with honors, in accounting and finance from the University of Hartford, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Myles also serves as a director and the treasurer for the School on Wheels of Massachusetts, a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to providing educational services to children impacted by homelessness.

George Serbedzija, PhD, Vice President, Business Development

Dr. George Serbedzija joined PrimeraDx in 2008.  Prior to joining PrimeraDx, Dr. Serbedzija served as Director of Business Development for Genzyme Genetics, a national reference laboratory focused on Oncology and Reproductive diagnostic testing and screening. Prior Genzyme Genetics, he held various management positions at CombinatoRx, Inc, first as head of the Infectious Disease program and then as Associate Director of Corporate Development. Dr. Serbedzija began his commercial career as a founding member of Phylonix, a Contract Research Organization providing in vivo assays for drug discovery and screening. He received his PhD in Developmental Neurobiology at the University of California, Irvine and a BS in Zoology at University of California, Davis.

Louis Hlousek, Vice President, Systems Development

Mr. Louis Hlousek joined PrimeraDx in 2008 with 25 years’ experience leading interdisciplinary teams in the development of commercial scientific and medical instrumentation systems. Most recently he was VP of Product Development at Ciphergen Biosystems, where he led a team of about 40 scientists and engineers in the development of a high-throughput SELDI mass spectrometry platform employed in proteomic translational medicine research. His experience spans that range of small start-ups to senior positions at large enterprises such as Thermo Instruments and Hewlett Packard, where he led the development of a variety of instruments and systems for research and clinical applications. A physicist by training, he’s a hands-on leader that favours elegant and simple solutions focused on exceeding customer expectation while streamlining development and manufacturing.
