Matthew F. McManus, MD, PhD, MBA

President & CEO

Dr. Matthew McManus joined PrimeraDx in August 2010 from his prior position as Head of Cleveland Clinic Laboratories (CCL) and the Chief Operating Officer of the Pathology and Laboratory Medicine Institute.  In his three years in Cleveland, he successfully expanded the Clinic's reference laboratory services and secured funding for construction of a major new laboratory facility.  Prior to leading CCL, he was the Medical Scientist for the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research Drug Discovery Incubator, where he helped found the External Fast Follower group. He has also worked at McKinsey & Company, consulting for diagnostics, device and other health care clients, and at Procter & Gamble in sales and marketing. He received his MD and Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, his MBA from Boston College, and his BA from the College of the Holy Cross.

Lilly Kong, D.V.M.

Chief Scientific Officer

Dr. Lilly Kong joined PrimeraDx in early 2009. Prior to joining PrimeraDx, Dr. Kong served as the Vice President of Research and Development for Focus Diagnostics, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quest Diagnostics, where she was responsible for planning, initiating, directing and executing the scientific research and development effort with emphasis on both molecular and immunological diagnostic products and laboratory services.Dr. Kong is a veterinarian, virologist and molecular biologist by training, and has worked in the field of infectious disease diagnostics for the last 25 years. She received a D.V.M. from National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, an M.S. in Veterinary Microbiology from Auburn University, and had her postdoctoral fellowship training in Hematology at the University of Alabama, Birmingham.

Ted Myles

CFO & Vice President of Operations

Mr. Ted Myles joined PrimeraDX, in November 2008, with more than 15 years of experience in financial and accounting roles in the Life Sciences industry. Mr. Myles most recently served as Senior Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer for Pressure BioSciences, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed Life Sciences Tools company. Mr. Myles also served as the US controller for Merck KGaA, where he had a wide variety of responsibilities in the areas of accounting and business development. Prior to Merck KGaA, Ted worked in the health care investment banking group of SG Cowen Securities Corporation. Mr. Myles began his professional career at PriceWaterhouseCoopers, where he held positions of increasing responsibility between 1993 and 1997. Mr. Myles became a CPA in 1996, and earned a BSBA, with honors, in accounting and finance from the University of Hartford, and an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis. Mr. Myles also serves as a director and the treasurer for the School on Wheels of Massachusetts, a not-for-profit organization that is dedicated to providing educational services to children impacted by homelessness.

David Jackson, PhD

Vice President of Business Development

Dr. Jackson has over 13 years’ experience in the healthcare technology and investment industries.  Most recently David was employed at Qiagen as a member of the Companion Diagnostics Partnerships team in Global Business Development. Prior to Qiagen he held a similar VP role with DxS, which was acquired by Qiagen in 2009.  He has held leadership positions in business and corporate development; strategic marketing; commercialization; and intellectual property analysis. Dr. Jackson earned a doctorate in the medical sciences from the Boston University School of Medicine; is trained and experienced as a US Patent Agent and Securities Analyst.

David Heffelfinger

Vice President of Engineering & Systems Development

Mr. David Heffelfinger has held many Executive-level engineering positions within life science and medical device companies including Beckman Coulter, BD Biosciences, and Bio-Rad Laboratories as well as several startups and venture capital backed companies including Biometric Imaging, Alpha Innotech Corp, and Luminys Systems.  Dave was also a founder of his own company, Hyperspectra LLC.  He began his professional career at General Motors Research Laboratories in Warren, Michigan as an Applied Physicist.  He received his B.S. and M.S. in Physics from Wayne State University and an Executive MBA from Saint Mary's College in Moraga.  He holds 27 US and international patents in the fields of imaging, optics, bio-systems, and instrumentation.

Fayyaz Memon

VP Regulatory Affairs & Quality Assurance

Mr. Memon has more than 20 years of progressive experience as an executive in the life sciences and chemical industries. He has held management positions with Thermo Fisher Scientific (Fisher BioServices), Innovative Neurotronics, Digene, MQS, J&J, SmithKline Beecham, and Exxon Chemicals. Mr. Memon has helped numerous companies to obtain FDA approvals and establish quality systems.  Mr. Memon has worked with start-up, medium size, and large multinational companies covering medical devices, in-vitro diagnostic, pharmaceuticals, biologics, and biotechnology. He has managed multi-million dollar projects covering multiple countries including the US, China, Japan, the UK, Pakistan, France, Germany, and Italy. He has a unique background working with multiple companies in the life sciences industry and in numerous functional areas covering quality systems, regulatory affairs, FDA remedial actions, software and process validation, manufacturing, and clinical trial services. Mr. Memon earned his MBA in Operations and Quality Management and MS in Mechanical (Manufacturing) Engineering from Drexel University.
